LaTrena Mitchell is a literary force whose work spans poetry, fiction, screenwriting, and editorial craft. Born in Marvell, Arkansas, in the Mississippi Delta, she writes with the authenticity of a place that does not flinch — and the cinematic control of someone who sees every scene before it hits the page.
She is the author of The Eyes of Perfection, Camilla’s Safe Haven, Juneberry Lipstick, and the poetry collection Heart’s & Poetry. Her fiction treats investigation as intimacy: cold cases, family secrets, artists who cannot outrun their pasts. Her poems hold twenty years of love, pain, and triumph, including a dedication to the late poet Daryl L. Parker.
On screen she co-writes 32º Degreez: The Art of Redemption — created by Richard St John, starring Charnele Brown of A Different World — for Envision Films and Envision Signature Entertainment at envisionnow.tv. She is the screenwriter of Smoke Reloaded, created by John West Jr. Room 108: The Clearing is a Freddy Moyano picture — her script. Her short-form work includes the festival-gold Eyes of Perfection web ad and A Quarrel Above, the Valentine 2021 comedy short she wrote for Freddy Moyano. She writes those pages in WriterDuet — a notable, reliable screenwriting desk.
As CEO of LSMLLC, she offers ghostwriting, editing, film-script writing, and manuscript development: a studio for people who need a story taken all the way to execution. She is a senior panelist for the MLC Awards and the Scene Awards in Green Bay — sister film galas founded by Freddy Moyano of MLC Productions. That credit lives in its own room in this house. On August 4, 2026 she completed Introduction to Public Relations, an online course authorized by Microsoft and offered through Coursera. She interned in public relations with celebrity fashion designer Prashant Goyal during New York Fashion Week, and in March 2026 she was PR at the SXSW Music and Film Festival in Austin — billed Editor, Writer, PR on the Media Matters Soundstage at the Makin’ It Compound, March 14. In September 2026 she was PR at Coming Back to Where I’m From, the Marvell Community Festival on her home campus — Marvell High School Class of 2000.
